Due to strict biosecurity protocols, farm visits are restricted.
We collect multiple times throughout the day in order to gather the cleanest and freshest eggs possible. All eggs from individual pairings will be marked. We successfully hatch eggs with these marks with no adverse reaction. All eggs are checked for organic matter, and gently scrubbed with a copper wool in order to remove any material while leaving the bloom intact within the eggs' pores. The intact bloom protects the embryo from bacteria and other contaminates which may pass through the pores. Some eggs have stains that won't scrub off gently, it happens, and we prefer to be gentle with hatching eggs. We never have trouble hatching a stained egg. The eggs are then placed in auto-turners in order to secure a well-balanced air cell in the appropriate space. We find stronger air cell attachment to be paramount to hatching success with our equipment.
We ship in insured Priority Mail mailing boxes with a 2-3 day arrival time. Inside those boxes are sheets of dense foam across the top and bottom, and you will find shredded paper filling every negative space. We use dense foam egg shippers with cavities closely specific to the eggs' sizes. On the top and bottom of each egg inside the cavity will be a circle of dense foam for added protection if the egg size requires it. On the outside of those boxes we place warning labels stating there are fragile eggs inside and that the package should not be exposed to x-ray machines. Around the address label will be an alert to your local post office to call you to pick up the hatching eggs if you'd like, as the most jostling that happens to shipped hatching eggs is en route to their designation with the other boxes scheduled for the route. You must provide your phone number for this service. If no phone number is provided, your carrier will deliver your eggs to your address. We ship eggs on Monday through Wednesday to avoid weekend waits at the post office.
We are able to fulfill orders for eggs based on the hens' laying, and our waitlist for day old chicks. Please contact us to check on availability for any of our breeds or species of bird.
With hatching eggs, there are no guarantees. A successful hatch has far too many variables to offer any guaranteed hatch rates, and shipped eggs have a lower rate than others. For the best hatch rates, do plenty of research first, and follow the instructions in the manual for your specific equipment. We do recommend placing shipped eggs bottoms up in ambient temperature and left untouched for 12-24 hours prior to placing them in your prepared and sanitized incubator.
